How local Hudson Valley Democrats have twisted the narrative and blamed utilies for your skyrocketing bills while avoiding responsibility .
"Most New York voters say cost of living is out of control. The dire forecast cut across partisan lines, with 59% Democrats, 79% of Republicans and 71% of independent or non-party-affiliated voters polled agreeing that the state is taking a bite out of their wallets" according to a recent Siena College poll.
Now you know what Yvette Valdes Smith, Democratic Dutchess County Legislature, is hiding and why she does not want a public discussion about utility taxes. It will expose how outrageously high our utility taxes are. Smith does not want a public discussion that shines a spotlight on the gross high New York state utility taxes. New York State utility costs are 50% higher than the national averages because the taxes and utility surcharges Ablany Democrats have imposed on you and me.
The republican measure, if passed, would immediately save consumers substantial amounts on our bills. The republican sponsored utility tax relief bill provides direct relief to utility customers, that's you and me.
Yvette Valdes Smith is LYING when she says the Republican sponsored utility tax bill is a Trojan Horse for big businesses. It is immediate tax relief for utility customers like you and me. Let's get that Republican bill out in front of the public for an honest and open discussion. Lowering the taxes on my electricity bill does nothing to benefit Smith's fictitious Trojan Horse data centers. Explain to me how Lowering my electric bill taxes is a Trojan Horse for data centers. That is a smoke screen.
Remember Albany Democrats are already sitting on nearly $3 billion slush fund that they collected as surcharges on our utility bills. In addition to a utility bill tax holiday, that $3 billion also should immediately be refunded to us, the taxpayer.
"Albany Democrats continue to dream up new ways to tax New Yorkers and billions of ratepayer dollars - taken to fund the Green New Scam - are sitting unused. It's time NYSERDA parted with its flush fund, and returned that money to ratepayers to give real immediate relief to New Yorkers who desperately need a break," Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt said to Orleans Hub.
When Rob Rolinson, Republican State Senator, put forward a proposal for a relief utility bill, you'd expect a conversation about the resolution. However, Democrats refused the idea and plotted against any agenda that would give relief to those struggling with taxes.
One month ago, I wrote the following: "Calling on Democrats [in the Hudson Valley] and in Albany to slash the excessive layers of taxes and regulatory fees to give consumers immediate relief. Democrats have refused to cut excessive gasoline, diesel and utility taxes.
Here are three real solutions (1) Suspend the state and local gasoline and diesel taxes. (2) Pass the Republican's Senate Bill S.8463, introduced by Senator Rob Rolison, would establish a one-year utility bill tax and surcharge holiday and a two-year green energy gas tax holiday, which would provide not only immediate, but real and meaningful relief to New York State ratepayers who are paying residential electric rates 50% higher than the national average. (3) Pass the Republican's Senate Bill S.8461A to send rebates to utility customers. S.8461A, introduced by Republicans, would provide nearly $3 billion in bill credits to ratepayers using unspent funds collected from ratepayers by NYSERDA.
Make your voice heard! Contact your county and state representatives and demand that they hold public discussions on why our New York State utility bills are 50% higher than the national averages. Albany's one-party rule and local Democrats do not want a public discussion because they are terrified that you will learn that Albany politicians, not utilities, are the problem.
