SNAP benefits have come under fire with millions of Americans depending on these government issued food stamps. But fostering dependency has been the plan all along.
Our Nation's historic culture of personal responsibility and individual initiative, essential elements of the American Dream, have been intentionally eroded.
Many of our social welfare programs disincentivize work and foster long term dependence to the point of undermining some of our most basic human needs of self-actualization. SNAP participation spiked by 69 percent between 2008 and 2013, reaching a high of more than 45 million monthly recipients...(USDA).
Before you say: "Of course SNAP grew, it was the Great Recession"... The Great Recession ended in June 2009. Yet, millions more recipients were added to the SNAP roles for four additional years during Obama/Biden. The next huge surge was during Biden/Harris, again, long after the Covid shutdown ended in 2020. "SNAP incorrectly disbursed nearly $11 billion in 2024." USDA. New York State alone made $1 billion in improper disbursements, with roughly one in every seven dollars being sent wrong." Those "error" rates are unconscionable because their cost falls on the backs of hard working taxpayers.
SNAP spending has undergone two surges, Obama/Biden and Biden Harris, reaching annual costs of more than $100 billion in 2024. The real cost of these programs falls on the backs of the hardest working Middle-class men and women in America. Why are mostly democrats refusing to reform these programs to eliminate the documented waste, fraud, corruption and levels of corporate welfare that are known to exist. Why are mostly democrats refusing to reform these essential programs to see that they deliver high quality nutrients to those who truly need the food assistance.
Many of our social welfare programs disincentivize work and foster long term dependence to the point of undermining some of our most basic human needs of self-actualization.
